DRESS: c/o Dahlia (also available as a top) SHOES: c/o Boden SUNGLASSES ASOS
Dahlia is a brand I have loved for years now - they were one of the first brands I ever worked with because of Mermaidens (!) and each season I fall in love with their selections! This dress absolutely blew me away - the 60s is one of my very favorite decades for fashion, and the loose silhouette on this number looks absolutely stunning on - not to mention the lacey overlay, bell sleeves, and tie up ribbon details on the back...! Be still my heart.

This dress is just about to sell out (so be quick if you need it!), but it is available as a top and they have a several other darling pieces with sheer, lace, and ribbon elements in their shop! Another favorite? This 70s, high necked beauty!

I wanted the dress to shine, so I paired it simply with retro style cat eye sunglasses and these beautiful heels from Boden, who have some of the cutest shoes I've ever seen!

DRESS: c/o Unique Vintage PURSE: Pepa Loves SHOES: T.U.K. Footwear SUNGLASSES: ASOS

While taking these photos, the sun was shining and then it started raining in a beautiful misty summer rain kind of way...! It was pretty idyllic, and I love how these turned out.

Here I'm wearing a darling black and white gingham dress from Unique Vintage - there is something about summer that makes me want to always dress in gingham, and I love the detailing on the bust!

I paired it with the cutest cat bag from Pepa Loves and beautiful heels from one of my favorite brands, T.U.K. Footwear! I always say these heels remind me of a 40s-meets-70s aesthetic - I love the 40s feel of the peep toes and ankle strap, and the thickness of the ankle strap band and platform feel distinctly 70s...! (I'm kind of a dork when it comes to fashion history, so that type of thing makes me excited hehe)

I hope you are enjoying your summer!

An Interview with Margarita Mermaid

Margarita wearing her Deluxe Nereid Bra

I have been meaning to spotlight some of my favorite creatives with interviews on Mermaidens for a while now, and what better way to kick off the series then by interviewing Margarita Mermaid herself?

I've been lucky enough to collaborate with Margarita on our collection together, and I have been completely blown away by how utterly sweet and talented this girl is. It was so fun getting to getting to know her more in this interview!

Conch Seashells Top

When did you start Margarita Mermaid Swimwear?
I started doing custom swimwear in 2010 and officially launched the line in 2012.

Do you remember the first piece you designed for your line?
I think the first good one I can remember was the My Little Pony. There were definitely some before, but I think I'd rather forget about those!

Sailorita Top

Why "mermaid" and what else inspires your work?
Margarita Mermaid started just as my Instagram handle. Then I began making the Seashell Tops and people went crazy over them and it was all they wanted to buy! I was pretty happy that people responded to the idea so I decided to make the whole line inspired in mermaids.

Other things that always inspire me are certain colors and textures: metallic pastels, sparkle nude, dreamy light color tie dyes with glitter. Kids toys, dreamy bedrooms, fantasy architecture, unicorns, fairies and fortunetellers. Things from the realm of fantasy that make you feel like you are in a dreamy magical land.

Ocean Queen - Deluxe Nereid Bra

Describe your average day in the life!
Right now I'm in the design stage so my days are filled with figuring out new ideas, sourcing the fabric and trims for them, making patterns and having the samples sewn, perfecting all the details and planning the production.

I'm very excited about what we're coming up with now! When the sale stage comes, I'll spend most of the time on the website, doing promo, shipping orders, handling sales, shooting editorial and catalogue photos. Every day is different really, depending on what needs to be done!

Do you have a favorite piece you've ever made?
They're all my babies! But the new Nereid Top that we launched this summer is one I had been trying to perfect for a while and finally we nailed it - so I gotta go with that one!

ASOS Curve F/W 2015 with GabiFresh

Thursday, August 6, 2015

I had to share this lookbook from ASOS Curve! Not only is the clothing adorable, but I was so happy to see the line modeled by one of my absolute favorite ladies - Gabi from GabiFresh who is absolutely stunning and a sweetheart to boot!

I love the rich jewel tones and 60s/70s silhouettes, accessories and fabrics - is anybody else loving the 70s trend at the moment? My heart is singing for an a-line button up skirt...!

SKIRT: c/o H.K.M. (by Hannah Kristina Metz) BRALETTE: Charlotte Russe (out, similar)
SHOES: c/o Boden SCARF: ASOS

Hannah Metz kindaaaa made my month when she sent me her Brangien's Tears Skirt from her new clothing line, H.K.M. (which I had previously fangirled over when I shared the lookbook on in this post)!

This pleated skirt is a stunning blush pink with the most beautiful embroidered tear (or rain!) drops! And it even has pockets?! Definitely my new favorite skirt in my wardrobe - she combined all my favorite elements and it goes with just about everything ;___;

I paired it with my favorite bargain bin gingham bralette I found at the mall a couple years back (best $5 I ever spent!) and cute glitzy shoes by Boden ♥♥♥
