DRESS:
Samantha Pleet x Urban Outfitters c/o of Pleet

Earlier this month, Samantha Pleet released her exclusive collection for Urban Outfitters. As usual, I was completely smitten with Pleet's designs - using prints seeped in allegorical references, her signature silhouettes, and casting her equally talented and beautiful friends to make the pieces come to life in a video that could only be described as a dream come true - this collection makes my heart sing!

Samantha was sweet enough to send me one of my favorite pieces from the line - the Scout Dress has a gorgeous leafy vine and oranges print. My favorite part of the dress would have to be the cut out, knotted detailing, however! It's unlike anything I have in my wardrobe, and so perfect for Spring!

Self Portrait: As Jean Shrimpton by Bert Stern

Saturday, March 21, 2015

In honor of Spring's arrival, I decided to recreate one of my all time favorite photos - Bert Stern's floral portrait of Jean Shrimpton has always stuck with me for it's sheer beauty.

I plan on doing more self portraits as some of my favorite 60s ladies! I really love taking self portraits - though I do sometimes wish I could just clone myself because it would be easier then running back and forth between the backdrop and the camera, flowers falling out of my hair as I go...!

Happy Spring!

Good After Nine Jewelry

CAT RING *, SWAN RING *, PINK UNICORN RING *, GOLD UNICORN RING *

Good After Nine, a jewelry store I've had my eye on for a while now, was sweet enough to get in touch and send me some rings to review!

Handmade and painted by a duo Tidarin Srisook (nickname "Nine") and Don in Bangkok, Thailand, I am truly blown away by these!

Special thanks to my friend Ali for sending me the Lush unicorn horn bath bomb!

The rings arrived in darling little branded cardboard boxes, wrapped in polkadot tissue paper. The actual rings themselves are carefully carved, with crisp lines and carefully drawn eyes. I absolutely love these! They have a wide variety of darling designs - ranging from birds, to domestic pets, to unicorns - and one attention to detail on each one is breathtaking!

Nine is also offering readers 15% off of your order with the coupon code "MERMAIDENS" until April 30th!

DRESS: c/o Book of Deer TIGHTS: Sold out at ASOS, now available at ModCloth
FLATS: Forever 21 RING: ASOS HEADBAND: Forever 21 (sold out; similar)

The second I laid eyes on this dress by Book of Deer, I was smitten. Lush, navy velvet in a retro silhouette, complete with bell sleeves and a big bow with embroidered bears on it - perfection! I couldn't help but feel like a witchy Disney princess in it!

I continued the cute animal theme with these ADORABLE bunny tights - seriously how cute are they? And the past couple months I have really fallen in love with jewelry, rings specifically - and this star ring I got in an ASOS sale for only $6 is exactly what I've been wanting! I'm curious to know what your favorite jewelry stores are - leave me recommendations please?

As luck would have it, I actually ran into some deer while shooting these pictures, wearing a Book of Deer dress...!

SWEATER: c/o Emerging Thoughts BLOUSE: Forever 21 (similar) SKIRT: American Apparel
SOCKS: Forever 21 SHOES: Missguided PURSE: Gift from Marlena

How is 2015 treating you guys so far? I'm going to be honest, January hasn't been the kindest to me - it was really getting me down but I'm feeling more positive and determined to not let that derail me!

I'm combatting the dreary weather by dressing up in this bright, lip print sweater Lauren from Emerging Thoughts, one of my very favorite shops, sent me! I'm kind of picky when it comes to the fit of my sweaters - but this one fits beautifully and looks GORGEOUS on! Also, the thicker knit kept me warm (afraid I can't say the same thing about my legs... which were freezing haha!).

I paired the sweater with my matching lips bag that my blogging bff Marlena sent me and I picked up my shoes from Missguided in one of their sales. I've been hunting for a pair of t-bar flats for a while, and these are darling!

If you follow me on Instagram you will also note I've completely fallen for American Apparel's tennis skirts - the high-waist and pleated design GOT TO ME and I had to splurge. That said, I probably should have gone up a size, oh dear :|

Samantha Pleet Fall/Winter 2014

Friday, January 9, 2015

As the weather continues to be dreary and bitterly cold, I'm setting my sights on clothing with thicker fabrics and richer color schemes - clothing I can imagine myself exploring chilly moors wearing (or y'know, walking down the street without losing the feeling in my legs! *cough* I've read too many books by Bronte sisters...).

Enter Samantha Pleet's Fall/Winter 2014 collection: inspired by Joan of Arc, the collection includes pieces with gorgeous, intricate embroidery (featuring hearts, crowns, arrows, and moons), a dress with an attached cape (!!), and a beautiful blouse with an embroidered arrow on a heart pocket.

I had to share some photos of my favorites - as shot by the incredibly talented Amber Byrne Mahoney and worn by Nika De Carlo - a favorite model!
